the love shack bus stop is a winner of the athen's area arts council's, you, me, & the bus stop competition, 2008. the shack has a tentative completion date of 2010. special thanks to robert lowery for encouraging me to enter this competiton.


this concept is based on the b-52's hit song love shack. it also is inspired by my love shack art installation, 2004. the b-52's are a symbol of the musical haven Athens has become. people from all walks of life enjoy the song love shack. the love shack bus stop will likely appeal to transit riders of all ages. As a bus stop, the shack will provide a whimsical atmosphere for transit riders to rest. The love shack bus stop would not only be an aesthetic addition to the city, but also act as an effective tourist attraction, a landmark welcome sign for visitors driving into the city.
