salt painting is a method that i realized by experimenting with salt & natural dyes on birch panels. i created my first salt painting while in college & after it survived seven years, i decided to revisit the process. more recently, it was discovered that when placed in humid environments, the salt paintings "cry". this is a result of salt absorbing moisture from the air. this characteristic attributes to the ever-changing quality of the piece & reveals layers of new imagery.
